Subject: Dudley TAYLOR, 1805, Garrard, KY
Date: Wed, 26 Jun 1996 09:00:06 +0000

Dudley TAYLOR (b. ca. 1770/80 in VA) was in Garrard Co, KY on Back
Creek by 1805 when he purchased land there and was on the Tax List.
A possible kinsman Larkin TAYLOR was also on the Tax Lists for 1805
& 1807 on Back Creek; however I have found no further mention of him.

Dudley m. Anna MIZE (d/o Issac MIZE) on 11 Sep 1806 in Madison Co.,
KY. This was probably a second marriage for Dudley; since his son
Major Nathaniel TAYLOR was b. ca 1800 in VA. The "Major" is a name
not a military rank. This is my line.

Dudley TAYLOR had a number of children. Some of the ones that I have
been able to identify are:
1) Major Nathaniel b. ca 1800 in VA, m. 21 Oct 1821 to Elizabeth
FORD in Madison Co., KY, died in Shelby Co., MO
2) Lucy b. 1814/5, married to Mr. KIDD, d. Apr 1854 in Garrard
Co.
3) Reuben b. 02 Apr 1820 in Garrard Co. m. 01 May 1854 to Sarah
TOTTEN in Shelby Co., MO.
4) Rebecca m. 14 Nov 1827 to Daniel FORD in Garrard Co., KY
(Note: Elizabeth & Daniel FORD were brother/sister; children of
Jacob/Lucretia (MAXEY) FORD)

Based upon census records, there was also a number of other children.
A probable son was Jonathan TAYLOR who remained in Garrard Co., KY.
Dudley probably died sometime between 1830 & 1840 in Garrard Co.

The "History of Shelby Co, MO" states that Dudley's forbears lived in
Burkes Garden, Tazewell Co., VA. I have not been able to locate them
there thur far. However, since I have found a number of other errors
in this history, I take the above statement with a big 'grain of
salt'.

I would be very happy to exchange information with anyone with any
possible information on this family.

Sincerely,
Larry Blackman

Also find here the marriage of Dudley and Anne Mize
What we find as important from recent discoveries or rather possibilities is the report that our Dudley who married Ann may have been  born in Tazewell County.  From the book "the History of Tazewell County and Southwest Virginia   on pages 260 ,262,270 we find the  names Boone, Stoner, Hancock Taylor, and Gibson Taylor again a small part of the puzzle
