FAMILIES OF THE OLD DAYS
Back
It is interesting to note the closeness of families and intermarriage.  Not only were there several marriages among Taylor cousins, but we note several unions with Pendleton's, Gregory's, Anderson's, and Penn's.  This is understandable when we remember that communities tended to be isolated with travel restricted, and often burdensome.
To point out one interesting Taylor family fact:
President Madison was the grandson of Frances (Taylor) Madison.  His Mother was Frances (Conway) Madison, she was the daughter of Francis Conway and Sarah (Taliferro) Conway.  Upon  the death of her father Francis, her mother Sarah Married George Taylor   (1) (2) who was the brother of Frances (Taylor) Madison.  thus President Madisons two grandmothers became sisters-in-law.
After the revolution Virginia paid military bonuses with land grants in Kentucky (at that time kentucky was considered a county of Virginia)  After the war westward expansion was rapid, in many cases residence was quite transitory, making the tracing of records difficult and often impossible.
See the family record of the Virginia Taylors.
